Planning your big day this weekend? Let’s talk about something no one tells you…
Sound limiters. What are they, and why should you care?
A sound limiter is a device used in many wedding venues to control noise levels – usually to comply with council regulations. If the music goes over a certain volume, some limiters squash the sound… and others? They literally cut the power.
Imagine your dance floor packed, the band in full swing – then suddenly… silence.
Yeah, we don’t want that.
Here in the UK, we love our indie rock music. And that is more than obvious from the popularity of our indie-rock acts here at The Supreme Collective. All of our acts here have a minimum of 100 songs in their repertoire, so you can be sure they’ll all have something a little more retro for the grandparents at the start of the party, and they’ll most likely have some current numbers too for the youngsters. But you bet ya, they’ll have the absolute best songs in their repertoires to create that indie rock band party vibe that is perfect for those slightly alternative brides and grooms. Here’s a little list of bands here at The Supreme Collective that deliver both the contemporary and classic indie rock numbers up and down the country year ‘round:
The fabulous thing about choosing a hotel as a wedding venue is they do this literally every weekend, and often on weekdays too, quite like our bands. That means these hotels have got the staff, catering, and decor covered. Each hotel comes with it's own team of wedding coordinators or event planners. They will ensure your day runs smoothly by going through all the details with a fine toothed comb in the run up to the big day and and they'll be there on the day to ensure everything goes exactly to plan.
The first of our wedding venue spotlights focusing on The Night Yard in Kent. Super country, and designed to be a wedding and event venue, making organsing the event all that more easy.

Firstly I should point out the similarities of our bands before I go on to the differences! All of our bands come with a PA and lighting system to light up your stage and your dance floor (and use of our equipment from set up until midnight outside Greater London, or until 1am within Greater London); they offer complimentary music before, in between, and after live sets if needed; an ‘off the menu’ song request (which is often the first dance); a tailored set list from hundreds of songs; and travel.
Below we have a little blurb of each band for all you busy people that just want everything neatly written out for you in an easy to digest list with lots of pretty pictures. :)

We recently played at Royal Holloway for our clients Gina and Sunil's wedding reception. They had a beautiful wedding ceremony at the university followed by their evening reception in The Dining Hall, all fancied up of course! After their first dance Gina got up with the band and belted our Elvis' 'Can't Help Falling In Love With You' as her little surprise for her new husband. We had Indian music for the intermission, and the Jewish wedding staple, Hava Nagila up our sleeves for the end of the evening.
If there's something we do well, it's first dance songs. Whether you want them played by mp3, or you want the band to play it, or whether you want the mp3 for the first half and then band to chime in half way through and ask everyone else to join you on the floor. We know it's a special moment, and picking that first dance song is of utmost importance. We've put together a youtube playlist of our all time favourite first dance songs.
Our blonde bombshell, Claire, fronts our party band. She’s young, energetic, bubbly, and has rich soulful tones that will seep into your bones and make you want to get up and move! Claire’s got a BMus in Popular Music from the prestigious British & Irish Institute of Modern Music, and regularly flexes her vocal chords in church choirs. She makes belting out Chaka, Aretha and Florence look effortless. Often specifically requested for gigs, she’s in high demand. Don’t let her youth fool you, she’s a seasoned professional and can even get your granny on the dance floor.
